Decomposed
Box
By Kaden
Canales
1
Upon six
sides of cardboard lie
A simple poem
meant for show,
2
But inside
one might find
Something else,
who could know.
3
On this
face, and on that,
Words are
scrawled, Calibri and black,
4
There’s the
bottom, there’s the top,
Folded carefully
the parts can stack.
5
The Poem
fits on, but inside not,
Is this box what you sought?
Wonderful solution, Kaden! The poem is very engaging and nicely detailed, and I love the way you've laid it out in the box shape. It's nice that the poem inhabits the box but isn't limited by it.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a creative solution, Kaden! You really took this project a step farther and made it that much more exciting to read. I especially like how the platform can actually be cut out and folded into a dimensional shape rather than just a simple square. That subtle detail adds a deeper significance to the poem's meaning that as a reader, I really appreciate. All in all, great well-executed idea!

ReplyDeleteI like the drawing of the box, must have taken a while to make. You literally fit the poem into a box, and in a way that any person reading it on a 2D surface could see. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really creative way of solving an open ended problem. I appreciate that the poem fits neatly on the sides of the box and makes sense in context. It is also interesting that the box could be folded such that the poem is on the inside or outside of the box.
ReplyDeleteI love how the poem nicely fits in the box, but more than that I love how the box can be in 2-D or 3-D shape! I like the fact that there is a rhyme scheme to the poem, and the fact that you included the font of the poem in the poem is really neat. Your solution is creative and solves the problem beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a good solution! I like how you decided to interpret the box as an actual box. It was clever to teach each side as its own stanza, and i really like the premise of the idea. The poem is not limited to the space inside, and spreads across the box. great symbolism!
ReplyDeleteKaden, when we talked about creating a box way back when, I had no idea you would actually do it. This is such an interesting and creative response to a prompt which asked you to examine the metaphorical boxes around poetry, which you did through a box of poetry. I tip my hat to your thinking. Furthermore, the poem is just lovely. Great job!
